Lance Yates, also known under the pseudonym and social media handle D.G. Devil or @dadgumdevil works as an interdisciplinary artist in a wide variety of digital and traditional 2D media. They received their M.F.A. in 2D Studies from Bowling Green State University in 2021, and their B.F.A. in Studio Art from the University of Mississippi in 2017. Their latest body of work borrows aesthetics from graphic novels, videogames, romanticist-era paintings, and prints, and reflects on Faustian bargains, gender identity, existentialism, and fantastical surrealist narratives. Their work includes but is not limited to the mediums of drawing, painting, printmaking, digital painting, illustration, creative writing, and comics. Currently, they are working on a self-published webcomic called The Ballad of the Witch Doctor, which is available to read on balladofthewitchdoctor.com.
Lance enjoys playing Dungeons & Dragons, watching Formula One, doting on their cat, and drinking copious amounts of tea when they’re not making art.
